Montreal (Quebec), May 29, 2009 - Yesterday, over 400 employees from RSM Richter Chamberland and Société générale de financement du Québec (SGF) traded their suits and ties for brushes, shovels and hammers to lend a hand to various social and environmental organizations. In light of the success of its first Community Day in 2008, RSM Richter Chamberland decided to hold the event again this year, this time with the help of Montreal-based SGF employees.
In order to offer meaningful support to eleven community organizations of the Montreal area, volunteers participated in a wide range of renovation, beautification and nature preservation projects, entertainment activities for both children and adults, as well as the creation of a “therapeutic sensory garden” for adults.
The scope of this project once again underscores the importance given to social responsibility by RSM Richter Chamberland and SGF. “Community Day was once again a tremendous success, said Mr. Stephen Rosenhek, Managing Partner of RSM Richter Chamberland. Last year, our employees said that they wanted the Day’s activities to grow by collaborating with other corporations, and by offering the opportunity to volunteer for a greater number of organizations. Therefore, we are thrilled to have partnered with SGF this year to help out 11 organizations. We encourage all companies to follow suit and develop their own philanthropic programs.”
“Community Day was an enriching experience for our team, and we are thrilled to be able to make a meaningful difference by supporting organizations that deal directly with the disadvantaged, who are always the hardest hit by economic difficulties, added Mr. Pierre Shedleur, President and CEO of SGF. Our team is proud to have worked with volunteers from RSM Richter Chamberland.”
A total of 11 organizations welcomed volunteers from RSM Richter Chamberland and SGF: Centre de répit et de dépannage Aux quatre poches, the Quebec Society for Disabled Children, Maison Jacques-Cantin, Dans la rue, La Maisonnette des Parents, Moisson Montréal, Les petits frères des Pauvres, CHSLD Nazaire-Piché, the Batshaw Youth and Family Centres, the Maimonides Geriatric Centre, the Jewish Eldercare Centre and the Nature Conservation Centre of Mont Saint-Hilaire.
